Yooperlite or fire stone is a new stone that has appeared on the stone market very recently. This name comes from the term "yoopers" which refers to the inhabitants of northern Michigan. It was discovered by chance by a mineral collector who was walking along the shores of Lake Superior in Michigan (USA) with a UV lamp, suddenly he noticed among the pebbles at the edge of the lake a pebble that was highly fluorescent.

Yooperlite is a syenite rock that contains fluorescent Sodalite which makes it glow when exposed to UV light.
